Ariel Atom 500 V8

In 2008, Ariel announced its latest version of the Atom – the Ariel Atom 500, powered by its small V8 engine. With over 500bhp in a 500kilo package, the Atom 500 has been bragged as one of the highest power to weight ratio ever for a production car. Over 1000bhp per tonne, the Atom 500 will be the ultimate statement in its performance and is made to be limited edition in the future. The 500 has started life as one of its special projects with RS Developments in 2007 and features the Russell Savory sequential Sadev gearbox. Over 500bhp at 10,000 rpm, this supercharged engine features all alloy construction, 5 valves per cylinder and a dry sump. The intercooler in the Atom 500 features a unique color scheme for the chassis, wheels, and bodywork, combined with carbon fibre panels and carbon fibre aerofials, integrated steering wheel, and Dymag magnesium wheels. The 500 can reach 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
