Cadillac CTS Coupe unveiled at Detroit

Cadillac CTS Coupe

Last week, the Detroit show marked another premiere, the Cadillac CTS Coupe and I must say, I’m really impressed. I don’t know why but ever since the Evoq concept, I like a lot Cadillac’s design philosophy. And the CTS Coupe is one cool car, with its classic hardtop styling, with no B-pillar and with its sleeker look. The official presentation was lead by Bob Lutz and the CTS Coupe came onto the stage drove by GM Global Design’s VicePresident, Ed Welburn.

The Cadillac CTS Coupe is build for 2+2 passengers but the guys from GM were very confusing regarding the platform on which this car will be built. “It is designed to accommodate a range of engines for the global luxury market, including Cadillac’s popular 3.6L Direct Injection V-6, as well as a new 2.9L turbo-diesel currently in development.”

The CTS Coupe features, among others, chrome, split seven-spoke wheel design (20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels), sculpted lower front fascia, XLR-type hidden door handles with proximity remote opening, diamond-cut rear fascia with mesh lower grilles and center-outlet exhaust (looks a little like the current Nissan Primera, but way cooler), tail-lamps featurin LED lighting technology with light pipes and rear spoiler integrated into the center high-mounted stop lamp.
