Ferrari GT California revealed

Ferrari GT California

After months of spy photos and teasers, today the Ferrari GT California is finally official. Available exclusively as a convertible model, the California and will feature a new automatic folding hard-top, mid-front engine position and dual-clutch technology, all present for the first time on a Ferrari.

Under the bonnet, the Ferrari California will be powered by a 4.3 liter V8 engine with direct injenction, which develops 460 hp at 7,500 rpm. With this engine, the car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4.0 seconds. The chassis and bodywork are aluminum and the engine is mated to the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox controlled by the F1-Trac traction control system from the 599 GTB Fiorano.

The car will make its world debut in October, at the Paris Motos Show, but more details and photos will be released soon. Though the car looks great, there’s one thing I don’t really like. With all the respect for our American readers, but I think California is not such a great name for a Ferrari car. I mean, we had Maranello, Modena, Fiorano and now California? Just doesn’t fit.

More photos after the jump.
