The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

Porsche prepared very well for the upcoming 2008 Motorsport season and announced the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The car is powered by 3.6 liter six-cylinder boxer engine which now develops 420 hp (that’s 20 hp more than the previous model), mated with a sequential six-speed transmission. The car weights only 1,150 kg and has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.7 kg per hp.

However, the most significant new feature is the new rear end following the design of the production model, with air venting slits that ensure better dissipation of heat at the rear.

Porsche will produce a record number of 265 units, in the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant and the cars will race in next year’s editions of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, national Porsche Carrera Cups and GT3 Cup Challenge. There will be 26 models available for the Porsche Supercup, will feature a special exhaust system and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).
