At RM Auctions for $4,12 million usd has been sold McLaren F1, let out in 1997. Koenigsegg Edition On the 4th March 2008, we will be unveiling our latest creation: the Koenigsegg Edition. The Edition will be on show at the Geneva International Motor Show between the 4th and the 16th March 2008. The Edition is the ultimate supercar – a Koenigsegg at its most extreme - built to break records and deliver breathtaking performance. Only a very few models will be produced, in order to ensure exclusive status amongst supercar owners. It has a clear, fully visible carbon fibre body, and is available in two versions: the 4.8 litre 888bhp CCX Edition and the CCXR Edition, which can be driven on environmentally friendly ethanol E85 and E100 fuels, as well as regular petrol. When run on E85 fuel the 4.8 litre engine produces 1018 bhp. Furthermore there are many unique details on the car. The new forged, machined and polished aluminium Edition wheels for example, which are extremely light and incorporate optimum brake cooling. The bright, polished surface of the wheels was chosen to maximize the contrast against the exclusive black clear carbon body. The Edition interior is clad in striking red leather and features a special version of the Koenigsegg Chronocluster including a redesigned centre console. All the interior aluminium parts are anodized in a specially formulated Koenigsegg Edition tone that has a unique and purposeful look. The Edition has a high performance specially developed rear wing, a larger front splitter plus side front strakes. The aerodynamics have been verified and optimized in CFD and in real life on the Koenigsegg test track in Sweden and on various proving grounds in Europe, in order to achieve maximum downforce. Together with the lower ride height, modified shock absorbers, modified springs and anti roll bars, this makes the car perfectly suited for both serious track fun and winding country roads. There is also the option of Michelin Cup tyres and paddle-shift if so desired. Prices for the CCX Edition start at 1,330,000 Euros net. Prices for the CCXR Edition start at 1,500,000 Euros net. Koenigsegg Special Edition cars Due to request from certain Koenigsegg Clients and Customers, Koenigsegg has created a Limited Edition version of it's sought after cars. The Koenigsegg Edition comes in two limited versions, the CCX and CCXR models. It features a 5.0L twin supercharged Koenigsegg engine, together with many other unique features. The car is more track biased compared to the standard models, as it has stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, reset dampers and lowered chassis. It also features a fully visible carbon body a large adjustable rear wing, larger front splitter and side strakes for increased down force and a unique forged wheel design. The interior is also reworked and features; color matched leather carpets, Edition side step plates, Edition chronograph instrument cluster, New edition only layout for the center consol control panels. All other extra equipment comes as standard, such as Carbon Wheels, Special interior trim and color, Rearview camera, Satnav or Bluetooth, Amplifiers, complete Inconell exhaust system in order to save weight. The Edition cars will be built in two different versions, a CCX model limited to 14 cars with 888 bhp and a CCXR (Bio flexi fuel) model limited to 6 cars with 1018 bhp. The price for the 888 hp CCX is 1 330 000 Euro, and 1 500 000 Euro for the 1018 hp CCXR (E85/petrol flex fuel) version. No money for a Reventon? Get a Veno!

The Lamborghini Reventon is exclusivity taken to the extreme, only 25 ever made, each with a price tag of €1 million, and has been sought after by a lot of car enthusiasts which have the spending power to buy it. Well polish supercar manufacturer Veno thought that there might be a market for all those who didn’t get to buy a Lambo, and came up with this replica after the italian model.

Sure, the company said it has taken the design from jet aircrafts, and that it represents the hard work of their design team (who probably just searched Google for images of the Reventon) and that the quality of the supercar will match and even overcome producers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani or Koenigsegg. The engines available will be taken from Audi, their 4.2 litre V8, with three versions, capable of delivering 350, 450 and 700 HP, and later on, customers will be able to equip it with engined taken from the Corvette C6, including the one from the Z1, a 6.8 litre V8. Other tehnological innovations include carbon fiber used in most of the body parts and in the brake discs, a night vision camera capable of detecting pedestrians or onboard computer with access to wireless Internet. Plus, their green department has stated that the company is currently experimenting with an electric powered version, equipped with the newest generation of high performance batteries.

Although they said that about 50 cars will be made, I’m sure once that Lamborghini’s lawyers find out about this car, they’re going to have a field day. Until then, feast your eyes with their fruits of “hard labour”. One more photo after the jump

6 Sexy Sports Cars Big Oil Doesn’t Want You to Buy

These are our favorite “green” sports cars. Some get awesome gas mileage while smoking the competition, and others use advanced bio-fuels to eek out ever higher performance over their gas-guzzling brethren. Big Oil doesn’t like any of them, because they all mean one thing: if you buy them, Big Oil makes less money.

#1 Greenest Sports Car: Tesla Roadster

Built from the same chassis as the Lotus Exige 265E is a next green sports car, the Tesla Roadster. Tesla has taken the most radical approach to being green; they removed the internal combustion engine and substituted a small 70-pound electric motor. Powered by a 3-phase, 4-pole electric motor producing 248 horsepower, which is good for 0-60 mph in 4 seconds. Despite the 70-pound motor, the battery adds enough weight to bring the total weight up to 2690, which is 600 pounds more than the Exige and Elise. The one thing you don’t hear from the bio-fueled cars is gas mileage. The Tesla can proudly say it gets 135 miles per gallon equivalent.

#2 Greenest Sports Car: Toyota FT HS

The Toyota FT-HS finishes out the line up of environmentally friendly sports cars. The FT HS is the only prototype in the line up because it will be the first hybrid sports car. The FT HS promises to be a real performer with help from an electric motor and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. The combination electric motor and V6 are said to produce around 400 bhp and accelerate to 60 mph in under 4 seconds all while producing ultra low emissions.

#3 Greenest Sports Car: Lotus Exige 265E

Another offering from the British is the Lotus Exige 265E. The thing that sets this Exige apart from any other Lotus is its ability to run E85 ethanol and 95-octane unleaded fuel. Thanks to the 109-octane rating of ethanol, the boosted 1.8-liter Toyota 4-cylinder inline engine makes 46 more horsepower than its non-ethanol counter part, the Exige S. Its low weight of only 2061 pounds does not hurt either. The 0-60 mph acceleration drops from 4.1 to 3.8 seconds. Lotus has accomplished building the fastest car ever to leave their stables and the first Lotus to promote the use of renewable energy sources at the same time.

#4 Greenest Sports Car: Trident Iceni

A small British company called Trident has produced a two-seater sports car called the Iceni. The Trident Iceni is the only Diesel fueled car that made it into the line up. Powered by none other than a GM sourced 6.6-liter V8 turbo diesel engine. The V8 produces 520 lb/ft torque at only 1800 rpm. That is enough power to propel the Iceni to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed over 200 mph. Most impressively, the Iceni can do all this with 60 mpg and 1,000 miles on one tank and it runs on pure vegetable oil. The Iceni is also the only car in the line up that will unfortunately never make it stateside.

#5 Greenest Sports Car: Porsche Cayman

Porsche has proved that sport cars can be just as fuel efficient as the common car, if not more so with the Cayman. The Cayman is Porsche’s greenest car ever with a 2.7-liter, 241 horsepower, and boxer-engine. The Cayman starts at $49,400, which is cheap for a Porsche. For under $50,000, you cannot have both the speed and style if you want a Porsche. Performance is good with Porsche’s 0-62-mph claim of 6.1 seconds. The Cayman’s fuel economy is a respectable 23 city/32 highway compared to the more powerful Cayman S’s 20/27 mpg. It’s no Toyota Prius, but it gets the job done, and in style.

#6 Greenest Sports Car: Koenigsegg CCXR

Like Lotus, Koenigsegg has found the use of bio-fuels like E85 ethanol can add substantial performance to their already powerful engine. The CCXR bio-ethanol version of their CCX sports car is the fastest, most powerful sports car that can call itself environmentally minded. With 1,018 bhp, the CCXR will hit 60mph in 3.0 seconds. Its top speed is over 250 mph. This is a car that uses Green technology to increase performance.

Summary

The Tesla Roadster highlights technology that all sports car manufactures should take a look at. The Toyota FT-HS sounds great but it could be so much better and greener if they made it fully electric and dumped the V6. The battery technology is good enough that the internal combustion engine is a waste. The only reason to put in an engine into any battery-powered car is for charging the limited range batteries. Making them capable of greater distances due to the fact that charging still takes at least 3 hours compared to 5 minutes to fuel up. Currently the Tesla has a 250-mile cruising range on a single charge. The Tesla’s charging time is better then most, from dead to fully charged in 3.5 hours.
